SOPHIA SARNATARO PORTFOLIO
About My Portfolio
My Breadth section of my portfolio is a collaboration of my junior year of high school along with past years pieces in order to capture a wide variety of techniques and approaches I have explored.
For my concentration I decided to show an essential aspect of my life. I have lived on the water my entire life, ultimately shaping the person I am today. The many aspects of my salt life created my likes, hobbies, goals, and simply my "go to"s when I look for something to do. My family uses our salt life to bond, and it will always be special. You may not be able to understand the true meaning this life holds without living it, or in this case truly seeing it. The excitement, the beauty, and the warmth is what makes salt life what it is.
My salt life consists of many different things. My salt life starts with my freckles. When my freckles come out, I know summer has started. It's beautiful. Every night my family looks out at the sunset in awe. We enjoy the beauty together whether we run outside to see it or are having a family dinner or outing. My dog would often come out on the deck to join us. She completes the picture, as she's outside when we are. When we go out on the boat to the beach it is relaxing, almost therapeutic, shown in and a place of enjoyment and bonding. The final aspects of my salt life are fishing and going out on the kayaks or paddleboard with friends and family. I've fished since I could remember, my first fishing pole being a pink, tweedy bird pole, and it's another way my family comes together and bonds. Or, when needing something to do, without the time to fish, we will take out the kayaks down the canal to the bay. All these parts of this life have a deeper importance than in parts, separate. They come together to form my life, a beautiful, fun, family oriented life, that I will forever be grateful for.
This AP portfolio, displayed in the breadth and concentration tabs, received a score of a 5.
Work in the 2017-2018 tab consists of my senior year work, not submitted to the AP. These pieces consist of my exploration of my artistic techniques as I try new methods, and work to practice and perfect those of which I have done.
I have since graduated Lynbrook High School and moved onto Bentley University in which I graduated in Summer of 2021 with a major in actuarial science. The post high school tab consists of pieces I have done in my free time as commission pieces, as gifts to family and friends, as well as my capstone.
